Whats missing from most analyses of the Boston bombing is any - TopicsExpress

Whats missing from most analyses of the Boston bombing is any assessment of whether it was necessary and proper to deploy 19,000 soldiers with armored vehicles into the streets of an American city to catch one man. We are training ourselves to tolerate excessive force that would have seemed obscene even for the Bush administration. We did not see this kind of force deployed after the World Trade Center bombing (6 killed/1,042 injured); Oklahoma City bombing (168 killed/680 injured); Atlanta Olympics bombing (2 killed/111 injured); or DC sniper attacks (10 killed/3 injured). Even at the height of the 1992 LA riots (3,700 buildings burned/53 killed/2,000 injured/11,000 arrested), total troop deployment was less than 14,000.
