Whats on My Mind? A challenge. Less than 3 days left - thats all I have. There are so many many reasons to be grateful, to thank you all for being part of my daily community. We all spend time putting out on the wall for all to see our hopes, our fears, our silly thoughts..... Here are mine, in my last days: First you may decide not to read further because I cant say in one or two sentences what I think. Thats the cyber world. Nothing should be longer than a couple lines.. if a video is more than 3 or 4 minutes, we wont watch it. Were too busy looking for the next interesting thing to spend our 3 or 4 minutes on. :) I am guilty of it too. There is so much in the world that is worth more than one sentence, more than a few minutes.... I hope you will find my words worth reading, worth more than the typical cyber moment. I find inspiring the lines in the film from Dead Poets Society that have been used recent months to great effect in a commercial campaign. The quote ends What will your verse be?. With my work, I always want it to benefit people. I want my verse to be one of hope, of care for others. I ask you, What do you want yours to be? I find inspiring the creative talent that surrounds me daily. From the people I work with, to friends, family, those I meet here in this strange interconnected world online. I find inspiring the idea that change is possible. Cate Blanchette said it in her Oscar Speech about Women in Film: Audiences want to see them, and in fact, they earn money. The traditional route has been sought out to gain funding for a female driven film. We have been told There are no main leading men in it, so its not commercially viable. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU HEARD AN OSCAR SPEECH INCLUDING THE PHRASE No one wanted to see this film made. I appeal to you, my inspiration, my community, to be part of something that generates change in an archaic attitude, and benefits others. Our supporters of our film are doing it for philanthropic reasons. They see a beautiful film that will do something good for the community: You. You will be entertained, you will have your heart moved, you will walk away the better for having seen it and then monies from it go to a great cause. Do you, the public, really only care about seeing a movie it if stars a known leading male? I was driving down Lankershim Blvd. near Universal Studios, and I saw a billboard of Zack Ephron and Seth Green for their new movie Neighbors. They both have their shirts off, so side by side is a hot in shape guy and Joe Normal. It emphasized in over powering magnitude everything I have just said. I like these guys, their work. No negation of it. I also believe the line Jodie Foster says in Contact Funny, I thought the world is what we make of it. I want to see a film because I think I will walk away the better for it, be it something as simple as being entertained (Iron Man), or more visceral (The Piano). Because that is life, every day on FB, in emails, in texts we exchange, in our daily conversations with each other. We need all of it, to be inspired, to find the things that make us smile, laugh, to spend more than 30 seconds reading a message or 3 minutes watching a video. Thats the human experience, thats what makes me want to spend my efforts in creating work that benefits others. The film I am helping to produce has many many reasons to be made. In these reasons, there is one that I am betting speaks directly to you. You watched someone you love die from a devastating disease. You are right now fighting a powerful disease. You are caring for someone or been a caregiver to someone who fights for their life. You want to support something that helps find a cure for this awful disease. With this film the disease has a name: Alzheimers. Maybe its none of those things, so what about you want to change the archaic mindset that women as leads in film arent worth their investment? You want to see an LGTB family portrayed as they really are: Like any other family. You want to support a friend. :) You want to make a difference. This was my verbal verse, part of my life verse.
