Whats on my mind Facebook asks? Well on this day, 26 years ago, I walked the plank of the USS Leftwich for the last time. Thinking one day I would return to Pearl Harbor to walk the decks of a place I once called Home. I give special thanks to my very good friend Louis Scull for his ceremonious ringing of the bell as I departed. Also to my friend Lars Evans for his generous support and ride to the airport in Honolulu. (Even though I knew he was just trying to escape his duty watch station to get drunk with me at the airport Lol). I missed it so much that I returned for another 10 years in the Naval Reserves. Anyway, I cannot believe where the time went but I certainly do not regret it, and if I had the chance to do it all again, I would not change a thing. The Military has changed very much over the years and my heart goes out to the families of those lost in the wars over the years, and now especially to those lost to friendly fire?? As the Hull of that great ship rests as a barrier reef at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, Northwest of Kauai, I feel somber. Yes, that is what is on my mind.
