Whats your favourite Noir? Im working on a hard-boiled detective story for my Masters course. Looking for inspiration... and a detective name! Got Joe Shade, but think I can do better. Heres the first draft of my opening line: It was 2am and I was kissing the pavement outside a bar whose name I couldn’t remember, after offending a barmaid I wish I couldn’t remember—just your typical Saturday night. What was out of the ordinary was the bar was now ablaze and sirens were fast approaching.
