Wheelchair senior frustrated by snowbound back alley Long-time Edson resident, Vera Walsh, who uses a wheelchair to get around, has been housebound for the past three weeks due to snow. The 98 year old does hire help to clear her sidewalks and driveway but the wheelchair access to her home is in the back alley. An alley that is so blocked with snow it has become impossible for the Senior’s bus to get to her home. Last week, Walsh had to get to a doctor’s appointment so Roger Tilby helped push his aunt through the snow covered alley in her wheelchair to reach the bus which was waiting at the end of the block.... The seniors bus couldnt get down her snow-packed back alley and she had to be pushed through the snow to reach the bus at the end of the block to get to her doctors appointment. The towns public works dept., already hard-pressed over snow removing complaints, says back alley snow removal isnt a priority. In other words, its down the list because town crews have to keep main roads clear. Problem areas are dealt with as time permits and the availability of equipment.
