When Ashley was in the first grade, she came running breathless to me one afternoon after school to tell me she was going to represent the first grade in the Jamboree coronation. I hugged her and congratulated her and she looked up at me and said, Mom, when they said Ashley Doty, a thousands hands went up. Thats how, Ive felt for months. A thousand or more helping hearts have been around me 24/7. Words can NOT begin to help me tell all our family and friends earthly words of thanks.....thanks for all you did for me, my children and grandchildren these past few days. And weeks, and year. Its all a blur right now but trust me when I look up from this dark pit we are in , I can see each one of your faces. You will forever be a be a part of this day etched in my heart. Those of you just there on each side of my sweet family who stood beside us for days, because Im not sure we couldve stood up by ourselves. My sisters and brother in laws who have, for months, taken care of us physically and prayerfully. Always at my door or calling to check on me EVERYDAY. And friends who have checked on Gordons family. My sweet uncle Bill, the patriarch of the Whitfield side made sure he could see Id be ok. A nephew running through airports yesterday, just to get here in time for Uncle Gordon and me, nephews and nieces who brought babies through freezing weather and braved a long drive to come. And then a niece and nephew sick and absent but sent audio files singing in their own voice sweet hymns of comfort to me. ....... Dear friends of Heather and Troy, Ashley and BA, JD and Mitch, who came to pay tribute. To all of those of you ministered to Gordons mother, Norma Jean and brother, Jarrell and family, thank you. Mine and Gordons cousins from far and near...... And my own precious ARMY of friends. Those brave guys who took my midnight calls ( and all night calls) for help and always came. I never had to ask for anything.....the girlfriends who have known for months just when I needed them and showed up just when..... Either just to sit with me, take me to dinner bring me dinner, drive me aimlessly around or make me smile. To take me to shop or fluff my hair.....and those of you who constantly kept in contact so positively with me through Facebook with smiley faces, hugs, sweet words....... And on and on. The men from LCRA who represented, the brotherhood of the SVFD. The firemen and women who stopped our car and the procession yesterday to sound the fire siren for Gordons last call out and lowered the flag at the station in his honor. Then the red fire trucks fell in line and led us to Oak Hill. GODS SWEETEST BLESSINGS ON YOU ALL. PLEASE this morning listen to this song and be blessed from our family. ❤️
