When Black folks go against what is perceived as collective Black - TopicsExpress

When Black folks go against what is perceived as collective Black group think by having different political or social views or putting their needs first that person is instantly labeled as an Uncle Tom/Thomasina, a hater or a sell out. People wrongfully believe their aim is to divide and conquer the Black community. It is not. My thing is if they arent invested in limiting your rights why do we refuse to see the perspectives of others without suspicion? Dont they have the right express their views just as you do? Dont they, like every other human being, have the right to put their economic, social and political interests first? Since we are all individuals why cant we celebrate the diversity of Black identity and thought without being hostile towards or feeling threatened by those who dont share the majoritys perspective? After all, we are not monolithic.
