When I came to New York she was one of my idols.......when I leave she is one of my friends. Of the many special moments Ive had in my almost two year adventure in NYC, there is none greater than when I got the phone call telling me I had been cast in Violet because it meant Id get to meet Sutton Foster!!!! I started late with the company because I was still doing Matilda when rehearsals started for Violet. On my first day, Sutton made it a point to come up to me and introduce herself. Here I was, cast as just an understudy and she, a Broadway legend, made it a point to welcome me and make me feel comfortable. Over the next five months, I watched her closely. She taught me a lot about how one of the best in the business approaches her craft and delivers her talents on stage. But more than that, I observed how this insanely talented person, who gets many deserved accolades, remains one of the most humble, friendly, unassuming and down-to-earth people you will ever meet. I can only dream about achieving what she has, but at least I can try to emulate how she treats everyone with kindness, grace and class. Love you, Sutton. Cant wait until our paths cross again.
