When I first got Avalon my pit/boxer a few weeks ago and took her to the river for the first time she absolutely hated it and would not go in the water. But now she swims with me, floats down the river with me, she chases grass hoppers all over the place, and she runs free with no leash but always stays close by. When my friends kids are there she protects them and when they float down stream she gets nervous and jumps in and swims to them and pulls them to the river bank. She also slept in a tent for the first time the other night and just snuggled up with me in my sleeping bag and slept all night and didnt wake me up until about 9am by licking my face. She truly is a great dog and she is such a pleasure to bring places and she just sits in the backseat calmly when in the car.
