When I got home from work my dog, Panda, had a lame front paw. - TopicsExpress

When I got home from work my dog, Panda, had a lame front paw. Since it is snake season, I took a good look, to see if I could see any inflammation or sign of a bite... and saw nothing. Later, when I read email my Google Scholar update on Lyme had a journal article about a dog that presented with a lame front paw had Lyme disease. I decided to bathe her, since it is hard to see though her shaggy hair. Her lame paw was covered with tiny seed ticks. GRRRRR!!!!!!!!. I removed one with tweezers and could see (with a magnifying glass) a tiny white dot on the back of a lone star tick. The tick was the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Animal research shows that seed ticks can transmit Lyme. Since I just read that journal article, and it is midnight, I gave her doxycycline... since I am a Lyme zealot. I dont know how Ill fit in a vet visit, with Erics surgery tomorrow. I trust that Vets are more knowledgeable about Lyme than MDs. I know of a vet that has Lyme herself and may try to contact her.
