When I have an opportunity to travel for pleasure, I often like to keep my professional photography gear tucked away and use the most basic camera set-up I can find. This is mostly in the interest of simplicity and in an effort to be fully present to enjoy the adventure at hand. Through the years, Ive realized that the personal joy I find in creating fine art photography is directly related to relationships and family connections that I get to see and explore among my clients. When I am traveling, I like to simply soak in the beauty, but I carry my iPhone for digital photos and an old Nikon FE for a few film snapshots just for the sake of preserving memories. No matter what the camera, when I have attempted landscape shots and other artistic photography in my travels, I have found that I naturally gravitate toward focusing on humans and sometimes even animals, waiting for the moment and then taking my shot. Im just an observer I guess. I enjoy seeing interactions and animate expressions and then dreaming, discovering, or enabling the story therein.
