When I lost all my distractions such as family, career, commitments, and had to live at a simple poverty status, I was ready to begin understanding the dharma practice. How much do you need to be satisfied? Many persons around me need to have everything clean and neat, so the neighbors will like them. When I placed prayer flags and a chorten, no one spoke to me then. It was difficult in the beginning to be really alone, with no one to speak with, then I realize I was free from all the demands life seems to put on us. Dharma was more than running a center, doing meditation and practice, but I could research what I wanted. Even in a monastery, you do not have that much freedom. I wish all of you to have this balanced freedom.
