When I made changes to my diet between 2012 and this year, which - TopicsExpress

When I made changes to my diet between 2012 and this year, which drastically improved my health, I eliminated the following in this order: 1. Cut out MSG and trans fat, began buying everything organic as much as possible (first half of 2012). 2. Cut out high fructose corn syrup (about the middle of 2012). 3. Cut out all other forms of added sugar (early 2013). 4. Cut out white flour (first half of 2013) 5. Cut out anything else artificial, or with vague words like “spices,” or “natural flavors.” (about the middle of 2013) 6. Stopped drinking anything except water. (about the middle of 2013) 7. Cut out gluten. (second half of 2013) 8. Cut out GMOS and anything with GMO ingredients. (toward the end of 2013) 9. Cut out industrial vegetable oils, even non-GMO versions - corn, canola, soybean, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower. (first half of 2014) 10. Cut out yeast, sourdough bread, and a few things that I found out aggravate a mold allergy. (second half of 2014) The changes werent only about eliminating foods. Often I replaced bad foods with better versions (for example, non-GMO corn tortillas instead of GMO corn tortillas - or using light olive oil instead of canola oil). I also began eating some foods Id never had in the past (such as macadamia butter, and now for bread I eat one made with rice flour and no yeast). The foods I do eat are very satisfying and I never feel hungry between meals. Very nutrient-dense, and my immune system is far stronger than its every been, amongst other benefits. I eat meats (organic if possible), fruits and vegetables (organic if possible), gluten-free grains such as non-GMO corn, rice, and quinoa, as well as nuts (preferably dry roasted), spices, etc - there is a ton of variety within each of these categories, and tons of possiblities for what I can make. I make things at home the vast majority of the time, rather than buying things already made and packaged, and this saves a lot of money. Plus the healthier foods are more filling, so overall it isnt difficult whatsoever to afford the foods I eat now. Plus I never buy drinks, and just filter water at home. Eating healthy is NOT expensive, the foods are GOOD, they fill you up and make you feel good, and making things at home is way, way better than any food you can buy at a store or at most restaurants. Helps that I enjoy cooking.
