When I moved here 8 years ago, I almost hit a cyclist. The incident was my fault because I did not check the bike lane, and since that time I try hard to be very aware of my surroundings and look out for the cyclist. HOWEVER many cyclist also need to respect the rules of the road as well. On a daily basis I see numerous cyclist running red lights, failing to use hand signals, and darting between cars in traffic without reguard to traffic. This effect has only been compounded since the introduction of Capital Bike Share. A campaign could be of some use, but it should target BOTH offenders...whether on 2 wheels or 4.
