When I pause to think of all the Veterans, living and dead, - TopicsExpress

When I pause to think of all the Veterans, living and dead, through whose sacrifice and embrace of honor I am given the privilege of writing freely this night, I am mightily humbled and eternally grateful. There are Veterans whose names I know, yet millions more whose names I will never know . . . yet, by their courage, by the gift of their lives and commitment to country, it is not necessary that I know their names, for in the service they have rendered for all of humankind, they have said they know me . . . and have cared for me without reservation. They are, we are, sisters and brothers of the One God and their greatest legacy, wrapped in red, white and blue and covered with stars, is the heart with which they embraced those with whom they walked this earth - and generations more which will come after them. Regardless the uniform they wore, they have paved the way for a more civilized and equitable world and I pray that we remember and thank them, not by the occasional patriotic waving of flags or even loud sounding parades, but by a re-doubled personal commitment to carry on the work to which they were committed: That freedoms song might reach every shore, that libertys call might be protected in this land, and that patriot dream might never die. Thank you for your blessing, dear Veterans! Thank you!
