When I read reviews about one of my books that criticize my thoughts and questions my sanity and calls my books sick and deranged I feel obligated to write more of the same. I dont write for approval from critics. At the end of the day what is being criticized, is it my content? My point of view or philosophy? Is it grammar, sentence structure, or correct punctuation? people ask me how can you make a book where a man and woman molest their child? Because its an everyday occurrence and applies to several survivors who kept quiet out of fear of being shunned, but venture into the world broken and angry. Out of a fifty thousand words all you comprehend is a few hundred and then critique me for having different views. A reader said Rasheed if you dont write a love story remember I wont buy it. I said remember when I write I dont give a fuq if youll buy it. My contribution to the art form is my voice and style and I cant compromise that. Either you accept it or reject it but I am a writer and Im bound down by nothing. Not my personal doubt and not a readers opinion. No disrespect to a reader but when I felt like hood books were watered down and so far wide from the hood. I wrote young savage and gave a clearer interpretation of the hood from my point of view.
