When I think of how little political campaigning infrastructure Yes Scotland started with, coupled with the entire British media ranged against them, I am humbled by the achievement of our people powered rebellion. Because it has had to become a rebellion. Noone thought it was possible. Nobody imagined at first, that pitted against 60 million people, the entire British state apparatus, print and broadcast media, that perhaps a million housewives, taxi drivers, binmen, driving instructors, disabled folk, pensioners and unemployed young folks could beat such an overwhelming opponent. Its reminiscent of Sir William Wallace (the real six foot, chain mail clad knight, not the wee kilted bare assed smurf of movie fame!) Its a modern version of his few thousand peasants and vassals, ranged against the fully armoured massed ranks of the English chivalry. Outnumbered ten to one and with leather armour and only homemade pikes, Wallace used what advantages he had from the local area, to outflank and humilliate his enemies. In our case we used social media to spread our truths through the morass of propaganda in the press. We rallied the disenfrachsed masses behind a cause which unites us. The same old Scots cause for which Sir William was to give his life. The cause of political freedom. As before there have been spies in our midst and bribes offered. As before, we stood together and didnt allow the Westminster schemers to divide us. Because of all this, it is we, the tiny outnumbered few (now about 2 million) who will win freedom for the third and final time.
