When I was 15, I was in Walt Disney World, specifically the Space Mountain gift shop, when I noticed the cashier we were checking out with had a college on her name tag. I asked her why that was, and thats when I first learned about the Disney College Program. In the following years I began doing extensive research on the DCP. I could answer nearly any question about the program. For several years, its the only thing I knew I wanted to do with my life. I wished and dreamed of the day that Id become a Disney Cast Member. However, I knew that once I got here, I would have a great experience, but it would be hard. All the things I learned in my research included that 1. Guest Situations would be hard. 2. Full Timers and leaders wouldnt care about you at all. 3. Youd be expected to fail. When I got placed at the Frozen Sing Along I had no clue what to expect. It was brand new, so there was nothing to learn in advance. But truly, it is the biggest blessing I have ever received. All of the things I had learned about being a cast member proved not to be reality. Working with these people, from all over the country and world, has been more than I couldve dreamed of. You all have inspired me time and time again, and I cant imagine what daily life is gonna be like without you anymore. Weve faced and overcome so many challenges, and dealt with so many guest situations, all the while working together to succeed. Ive learned more about myself and about teamwork than you even know. I know theres a saying, Never get attached to a CP. I totally understand why, its hard to love people that you know are going to leave. But from the bottom of my heart, thank you for becoming our friends, for not treating us like were disposable, and having faith in us while we discovered the Frozen Sing Along together and its operation. For teaching us instead of ignoring us, and for becoming people that we care about and love to be with. To all the CPs, thank you for everything youve given me. Becoming friends with you all has been better than I couldve ever anticipated. Taking this journey with you has been even more than I could have hoped for. I have friends now that I know I want to travel the country to see. Thanks for just being you, because youre all so important to me. Walt Disney said that All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Well this dream I pursued and achieved has come to an end, at least for now. Part of me wants to never leave. But, I know that I need and want to go back to school and do everything I dream of there too. Disney also said, Around here, however, we dont look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. These paths dont necessarily mean that you forget or leave behind, as I know I will be back as soon as I can! But there are new experiences to be taken, and other dreams that need to be chased. Whether I come back to Disney to visit or to work again, I look forward to seeing you all again, because you are a special part of my life that I cherish. Some people are worth melting for, and without a doubt, Id melt for you guys any day. In summary, I am gonna miss you guys a lot and cant wait to see you again. Dont be strangers, and please keep in touch. Ohana.
