When I was a kid, I listened to Deep Purple, The Who, Jethro Tull, - TopicsExpress

When I was a kid, I listened to Deep Purple, The Who, Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper, and several other rock bands. Black Sabbath as well, though it was only for a short time...6 months or so. I also read all the time and played every sport you can think of...almost. When I first encountered HPL it was during this time of heavier music and sports and my constant reading. My point is, I never connected Lovecraft to anything but himself. I never had even a moments thought that any of the music I listened to was connected in any way to anything else. It stood alone. Just as sports stood alone, Conan stood alone, and the Mythos stood alone. Lovecraft appealed to whatever intellectual side I had at the ages of 12 and 13. On this page, tons of people have a connection to Lovecraft through the music theyve grown up with. I think I get it, but Im not sure. For example, how is Metallica connected? Was it a few words thrown out in lyrics that the listeners decided to dig deeper into?
