When I was a kid, I remember being told the story of my paternal grandfathers retirement. He had worked for US Steel for many, many years and his children came up with a brilliant plan to pay for him to visit home one more time. They announced this to him - telling him Isnt it great, you get to go back and see Mexico again after all these years? He replied All is left behind in Mexico was hunger, poverty, and heartache. I gave this country my son. This is my home. My uncle, Nestor Jr., had been killed in France in WWII, leaving behind a young wife and infant daughter who would never know her father. Today, I think about my uncle and all of those, including my brother Benny, who have served in the military - willing to pay the ultimate price should that become necessary. Im proud that there are so many family members who have stepped up that I dont have room here to mention all of them. Thank you seems so little to say ~ but THANK YOU to each and every one of you! Its a privilege to live in this great country!
