When I was a young boy the State of Utah put in place a hunters - TopicsExpress

When I was a young boy the State of Utah put in place a hunters education program, before you could get a license you had to pass the course which was mostly to re-enforce how to properly handle a weapon, to know your target before firing a round off and basic things like leaning a rifle on a fence while you climb over it is not a good idea as the gun could go off and kill you. The accidental death rate went down after the program was put in place. Now the State of Utah has changed the rules so that young people can go hunting with a licensed hunter without having to spend the money on the course. They say that this will draw more people to hunting and increase the revenue through the sales of hunting licenses. I dont know about your views, but the $10.00 cost and the twelve hours of instruction time, all but five hours of the twelve can be done at home, but it requires a on day for five hours test to pass the course. The reason I feel the course is a good idea is because parents may not cover everything and young people coming up on their teenage years often think their parents do not know anything. I hope this next year we do not see a number of people die because of stupid mistakes made by untrained hunters.
