When I was fat, people felt the need to inform me of this fact - TopicsExpress

When I was fat, people felt the need to inform me of this fact (just in case I didnt notice). One woman (that I know of) went so far as to contact old high school friends to pass on the news that I was huge. Nice, right? Now that I am no longer fat, I still get comments about my weight- its amazing to me that people feel they have the right to pass judgment. I feel compelled to tell them that no, I am now the correct weight for my height and bone structure, that I am carefully monitored by 2 physicians, and am very healthy, thankyouverymuch- but I stop myself- its none of their business. Friends spoke to me of my health when the weight first came off, as its a frankly startlingly change, and those voices I can accept- its not about looking right for them, its about the health of their friend. But, I have to say, I get as many negative comments now as I did 2 years ago... good thing I did this for myself and my kids, and not to garner public approval! Its ridiculous how harshly a womans body is judged. Even songs, etc, designed to make girls feel good about themselves, are addressing overweight girls, and usually doing it by insulting their skinny sisters. I was happy and felt attractive when I was fat, and I am happy and feel attractive now that Im not. I wish that for all the skinny ones and fat ones out there!
