When I was growing up I watched the CMA awards every year, from start to finish. Of course thats when you saw folks like Conway, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Ray Stevens, Minnie Pearl, The Oak Ridge Boys, Hank, Jr., Marty Robbins and a whole lot more. I watched a little bit of the CMAs last night. Didnt recognize much country music in what I heard. On occasion I will have someone say that they wished we played modern country music on AM 1180, but you can get that a lot of places. Think we will stick with what we do, because we hear from a whole lot more who enjoy REAL country music. And for those who think only people 40 years and older love classic country, you might want to think again. We have a lot of younger folks that enjoy the real deal. They might not listen to classic country exclusively, but when they want to hear country music, they know where to look....and listen.
