When I was little in the 60s we lived at Jonancy, KY in a holler called Elswicks Branch. Once a month some missionarys, I think it was, would bring clothes and house items to the Union Old Regular Baptist Church and all the neighbors would get together and walk out of the holler and go rag shaking. That is what it was called back then. I guess it would be called a yard sale today. The memory of that and how fun it was still makes me smile and I remember all the ladies who have long passed on except for a couple whom God has blessed to still be here and lived a good long life. Does anyone else remember these missionarys that went all over selling things like this like this? Or maybe waiting on the bus to take you town and bringing you back when your business was over in the city?
