When I was much younger, there was a thing called TGIF. It was a series of shows that came on on Friday nights. All were family friendly. There was no cussing, no nudity, and a lot of laughs, but really important topics were covered in the perfect way that we as children learned from it and it opened up ways to discuss life issues with our parents. Some of my favorites were Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Step by Step, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Full House, and Sister, Sister. I remember to this day watching with my family. Some of the best memories I have are of watching Cory and Topanga fall in love, Shawn and Cory get into trouble and get themselves out, Steve Urkel transform a family and prove that you can be whatever and whoever you want to be as long as you are true to yourself (and the nerd can get the girl), and so many other amazing things. As a parent, I miss that there arent really shows like this anymore that I can share with my own children. Thats where the Disney Channel just made my day. Boy Meets World has a spinoff now, perhaps youve heard of it, its called Girl Meets World and its the story of Cory and Topangas daughter, Riley, and her taking on todays world, just like Cory did in Boy Meets World. I just finished the first episode. My kids are asleep and I set my TiVo to record it. My daughter has already seen it. But guess what? It comes on Friday nights and I will certainly be watching with my family when it comes on. This just became TGIF 2014 style. I was also really happy to see Mr. Feeny make a cameo appearance. I see a hit and the Turner clan will certainly be watching.
