When I worked in Moscow in Soviet years, a timely political joke - - TopicsExpress

When I worked in Moscow in Soviet years, a timely political joke - and there were many, many of them - would spread like wildfire almost before the event in question occurred. In the space of a couple of hours, it seemed that every one of the citys eight million people had heard it. I fantasized that there was someone working in a tiny cubbyhole at the Central Committee whose job it was to make up the joke and release it at the same time as the event happened or act was made public. Theres something very much similar to this in the right-wing media: the Fox blather, the Tea Bagger crowd, the Allen Wests and Numbnuts Palin, Rush Limbaughs, etc. As soon as a something happens, such as the recent resignation of Jay Carney for example, instantly the entire rightwing chorus descants as one in its imagined deformity, all singing the same tune.
