When I wrote Rabbletown: Life in These United Christian States of Holy America I posited that the offspring of present prominent religious right and conservative families would acquire positions of power. Thus, there is Pastor President Falwell and the National Inquisitor is named Cheney. I Had no idea the present Dick Cheney would come out so forcefully in favor of actions than any reasonable human being would describe as torture. In the novel, Cheney gets nabbed in a coup detat attempt. Heres an excerpt: Cheney could no longer walk and was strapped into a wheelchair to be led before Pastor President Falwell. He still had some vision out of one eye and could see the smug, victorious grin on Falwell’s fat face. “Well, Dick, pretty ironic isn’t it, when the Inquisitor gets to experience the talents of his own inquisitors.” Cheney listened as the man gloated. “Some odd doings in Topeka. Some nut has convinced other nuts that he’s the Second Coming of Christ.
