When Jesus said “Seek first the kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33), he was addressing our fear of not having enough, but he was also expressing God’s desire to rule in our sphere of influence. When he added “and his righteousness”, he was expressing God’s desire to fix problems in our sphere of influence and make wrong things right”; things like corruption and poverty. Jesus goes on to say, when you make that your first priority, there is no limit to the provision God will give you…”all these things will be added unto you. Many people read this passage to mean “Seek God first” or “Let God rule in your heart”. This is true but by saying, Seek first God’s kingdom” Jesus is talking about much more than just your personal life. He wants to see His kingdom invade your entire sphere of influence bringing transformation as you work make what’s wrong right.
