When Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey stated last week that ISIS terrorists posed an “immediate threat” to the United States, he committed the Obama administration’s “greatest sin,” according to a Fox news strategic analyst — “He told the truth.” And in penance, Dempsey backed down from his original assessment. “Well, they unquestionably took him [Dempsey] out behind the woodshed and for an extended period, but let’s face it Megyn, he deserved it,” retired Army LTC Ralph Peters told Fox News host Megtn Kelly. “Because General Dempsey committed the greatest sin you can commit in the Obama administration last week: he told the truth.” And the problem with the truth is that it requires the president to actually do something about it. “So with a wave of the president’s magic golf club, we’re back to well, it’s not an immediate threat, it’s not a threat to the U.S.” Peters recalled that when he served in the Pentagon, the Clinton administration gave much the same narrative with respect to al Qaeda — that it was a local threat. We know where that one ended. Kelly wondered what the president’s problem was. “Is he disengaged, is he unprepared, is he disillusioned?” she asked. “I think he’s sulking,” Peters said. “I mean he’s just not gonna clean up his room, and you can’t make him clean up his room.” Watch the exchange below.
