When Odette first arrived just recently we thought that due to her - TopicsExpress

When Odette first arrived just recently we thought that due to her behaviour of running/eating/ playing with Earnest & the collies and her obvious reluctance to join the other goats that she would also be a non-goat collie like Earnest is. We were wrong. Very wrong. Whilst Odette does enjoy playing /eating with Ernie & the collies,it turns out that if she is at all tired or just a little anxious she becomes a...............................chicken. I am not kidding ( sorry bad pun!). I have been having an ongoing battle for sometime now with Russell Crowe ( our rooster) Miranda (bad hen) & Henrietta (worse hen) about roosting on our pet food freezer when they have perfectly good places to do so on the farm rather than make more work for me cleaning up their wretched mess. Up until a short while ago we all worked peacefully together under a reasonable agreement of they could have the entire machinery shed to themselves complete with food/water dishes in return for 3 eggs a day to be left on Cleatus (our tractor) for pick up. Someone ( I personally suspect Henrietta) apparently changed the rules. So when we discovered Odette napping on the freezer later that morning I thought Huh thatll teach them wait til they try to roost tonight well you can clearly see how things actually turned out.*sigh* I must admit though I couldnt stop laughing, I literally had to sit down today in hysterics of laughter when I was out the back today checking the laundry, when I saw the chooks spy a hawk nearby in the sky so they all started to run to the freezer for cover nothing new there but was very new was Odette running fearfully with them!! She hopped up on the freezer with them until the coast was clear. So not a collie but a chicken, well we love her anyway shes just special.
