When Troy and I founded Ideal Energy in 2009 (in the depths of one of the worst economic dives in history), it was because we felt like the planet was at a critical turning point ecologically, and creating some small offering to this monumental problem was the most meaningful contribution we could make with our lives at the time. We had many naysayers who said solar energy wouldnt work in the Midwest; that it was financially impracticable. And weve had just as many friends that believed in us, and assisted us along the way. Here we are today, with a huge amount of support from our community, family and friends, with over a megawatt of clean, solar energy installed in Iowa, live data from our installations demonstrating the viability of solar energy, experiencing over 400% growth in our business in the past 10 months alone, and having creating over 30 full-time/part-time jobs the local economy in the past year. Im humbled our team, whos gathered together, stayed inspired, and pushed through the challenges and successes of the past several years. And we wouldnt be anywhere without our heroic clients, who share our belief that theres a better (and often more affordable) way to power the world, many of whom chose to install solar before it was really an established industry in the state. Weve come a long way, and yet still have so much to do, but Im looking forward to the growth opportunities on the horizon for 2015 and seeing where the coming year will bring us.
