When a family - parents in particular - lose a child the date marks the start of a New Calendar - a Year to face what some call the New Normal. Our calendar starts with August 8. We have been blessed with and have 5 sons; while one is not here, the other 4 are. They are the joy of our life; were proud of each one. As they address the same life decisions we all face they still need functional parents. While in the midst of grief it is easy to focus on what is lost and forget some very important points. It is the living that require the most attention, for they too have been effected. Our home is under a New Normal. So there is still frivolity, inanity, asininity, yelling, disagreements, outrageous hilarity, heartfelt emotion, jealousy, envy, compassion, rage, incredulity - in short life marches on. And so it does. Jolie and I appreciate the public and private expressions of support. Happy New Year.
