When common sense got off the train in SF. When the liberals - TopicsExpress

When common sense got off the train in SF. When the liberals finally got their political wish of District Supervisors a death warrant was issued in SF. It was a political death warrant for the moderates and conservatives. The left effectively cut off the West side of the City (Richmond/Sea Cliff/Marina/Sunset/W.Portal, etc.) out of the political process. Once they accomplished their task, mayoral, and legislative positions as well as policy were left to them. The West side of the City may have well seceded from San Francisco. Out of the 11 Supervisorial Districts were left only 3 that could be considered Moderate to Conservative---the Richmond, the Sunset, the Marina/Pac. Hts. No longer would the left have to worry about passing legislation because the Board/S, with eight or nine of the 11 Districts firmly in their control, could care less about the West side. So, now, we have 3 Supervisors from the West side. Except possibly for Farrell, the two others have caved and are part and parcel of the other 8. No longer is there a Quentin Kopp or John Barbagelata representing the West side. No backbone to stand up to the liberal thought process and look where we are. Still a geographically beautiful City, but, from my point of view, void of any responsible law makers. Fiscally, if we had some members of the Board of the stature of a Kopp or Barbagelata, you would not see a runaway MTA that sees itself as a huge money-maker (parking tickets, etc) for a spendthrift Board of Supervisors that cant spend fast enough the revenue the City receives. Dont kid yourselves. This City has more revenue coming into it (without parking tickets) per capita than any other City in the US. Think about it: what other Cities in this country are destination cities 24/7/365? Maybe two others: New York and Vegas and maybe New Orleans. Vegas doesnt really count because the Casinos give away hotel rooms or price them so low it is difficult to gauge the taxable income they derive. When is the last time you saw the budget from the SF Convention and Visitors Bureau? Like never. Add to the above the record sales in real estate. For every sale there is a City transfer tax of just under 2% of the sales price. Add to that the property tax. For every sale of $1M, the City will pocket $12,000 PER YEAR in property taxes. ($500k sale, $6k in taxes, etc.). You get the drift?
