The boys have been anxiously looking forward to their first chess - TopicsExpress

The boys have been anxiously looking forward to their first chess tournament for months now. It finally happened yesterday. It was an all-city, all-day event that involved about 250 players of all kinds of skill levels— K-12. I dont know if youve ever been to a chess tournament but there is a huge component of anxiously waiting for your vulnerable children to be emotionally devasted/spending time at an airport waiting for a seven hour flight delay. Just a little background. Great grandfather McCrea was a huge chessplayer and taught all of his four daughters to play. (Much to his credit, I must say, since chess at that time was virtually all male.) One of the daughters was the boys grandmother who has been a lifelong chessplayer. As for the result, Ill cut right to the chase; Great Grandpappy would have been doing back flips yesterday. The boys each played five games. Alexander went 5-0-0. (Five wins, no draws, no losses.) Teddy went 3-2-0. The MacRae family chess dynasty lives!
