When critics pitch the old and tired question, Which god? it makes - TopicsExpress

When critics pitch the old and tired question, Which god? it makes me wonder about their logic skills. Its the idea that because people have different beliefs somehow we cant determine anything concrete or substantial about the qualities of the one, true deity. They even go as far as to posit an intentionally imaginary god - the Flying Spaghetti Monster - which they obviously dont believe in. By asking Which god it is obvious that they have the basic skills of discernment - elementary-level abilities to identify differences. Yahweh, Allah, Krishna, Zeus...Richard Dawkins. Clearly there are individual qualities that one can identify and examine. But they dont. Not really. Instead, they jumble the various deities together into one category: fiction. It is assumed that anything claiming to be supernatural just isnt, so it doesnt require a deeper look. So the observation that there are actually differences is only used to try to defeat any rational discussion about each god and whether or not they bare any qualities that are rooted in logic, possibility, and known reality. This observation is a false notion at intellectual honesty. Because it never goes beyond that. By asking Which god, it means they are trying to tie up the argument into the tangles of the FSMs noodles.
