When developing my programs, rather then looking at specific athletes and how they develop their physique, I look at sports. For example a 100m sprinters physique is amazing! Most are shredded and have awesome legs! This is perfect for what I want, so sprints are added to my program. When painting a scenic view of the coastline you dont set your easel up in front of a mountain. Basically train for specific results. Another fav sport I love to develop my programming around is boxing. Take a middle weight boxer for example, generally they are lean, co ordinated, powerful and graceful this is perfect for bodybuilding. My absolute number one exercise in my whole exercise vocabulary is taken from a traditional boxing regime, and thats skipping. Skipping is like the Captain Planet of exercises! It covers so many different fitness areas from agility, power, speed and fitness to name a few. The hard thing with skipping is its not easy to learn, so initially sessions feel as if you are spending half the time with the rope on your shins. However once you crack it, 10 mins HITTs skipping a day can change your physique! Heres some tips to help- Start with 10 mins at the end of every session no matter your skill level, trust me u will improve!!!!! Skipping is rhythmic so count each beat just as you would dancing . Each week add something different to focus on eg. running skipping or double unders and in no time you will be a gun!!!
