When it comes to character designs I like them simple. I love simple character designs like Terry Bogard and Ryus as well as any characters in street clothes because to me it says more about the character. Through both Terry and Ryus designs you can easily tell their personalities and what theyre all about. However what I cant stand are over stylized designs with way too much added for no reason. Examples: Castlevania Judgment and anything from Final Fantasy. It always looks to me like the characters are trying to hide their personalities through their outfits and what not. These designs always love to add things to the character that really dont need Like Tidus from Final Fantasys Shorts where one legs longer than the other or Maria from Castlevania Judgements design with over stylized belts and what not. To me it usually tells me that the designer usually decides to instead of drawing and designing something effective add little extra trinkets and doohickeys on the clothes or just in places where they should nt be. These kind of designs always aggravated me because its obvious that no thought went into them to make them even remotely practical. This is why I choose to keep my characters in simple designs.
