When it is summertime here the sun usually rises over the ocean about 4am. I seldom miss it. But now it is winter and the mornings are cold. I snuggle down into the comforting warmth of my electric blanket and go back to sleep. At 6.30 this morning I braved the cold house to make a cup of tea. When I left my bedroom and walked into the living room I was shocked awake by a brilliant red aura which lit every corner - bounced off every surface. Catching my breath, I stood transfixed and stared out the glass at the fire-red sky which silhouetted the gum trees and lit the dark blue ocean. Such moments provoke awe to a point of complete spirituality. I felt the same way when I flew low over the Columbia River between the soaring cliffs of the Grand Canyon, and again, when I first gazed on Yosemite. Cold or not, I am not going to wait for summer to see such brilliance again. I am starting my day with a singing heart and wishing you, my dear friends, a wonderful day or evening wherever you are.
