When it was days before the Halloween charity event... I had everything going against me. From my son getting sick and needing to go to the doctor to work as well as being an active member in my family... but nothing was a set back until the wind came. Gust after gust after gust of relentless, seemingly increasingly violent wind made it nearly impossible for my standing structures to weather... it was well passed midnight and everything I had raised had been devastated and completely undone... overwhelmed, desperate, and out of ideas... I found myself at 3 AM standing amongst the rubble of my work-in-progress... nothing accomplished with only 12 hours to raise an entire wall of tarps let alone all of the other things i had to do last minute before the event began. I felt as if everything was against me... and the weather channel saying the gusts were only going to increase throughout the early morning... i couldnt risk the wind taking my canopies and throwing them into cars so i stayed up overnight out in the yard... running each time the wind gusts to prevent damage... and when the wind died... i went to sleep... when I woke up... i walked out and was reminded of what the unstoppable force of nature had done to my work... reminded of how puny I am as one person against even the power of 14 MPH wind... i was reminded of how i felt during the night and how depleted my motivation became... and i was reminded of the commitment I made to not only myself, but to my son, and to my beliefs... and I began building again. I learned a valuable lesson from that night... if you BELIEVE in something, I mean, REALLY believe in it... no matter what it is... you must fight through the resistance... prevail through the wind... and I know my goals may seem impossible to some, but Im not giving up... im not laying down... because we can save this world... despite the resistance.. despite the overwhelming circumstances... and we can change this world for the better.
