When our spines misalign this causes pressure onto the nerves. Most of the time we attribute spinal misalignment to back pain, however sometimes nerve pressure can cause referred pain that we feel in other areas of the body. Headaches are usually one of these instances- as Chiropractors we pay special attention to the neurology of the body and we understand that there are nerves that originate from the neck and the brain stem that actually supply health to areas of the skull, scalp, face and cranial muscles. Furthermore, if we have misalignment to our cervical vertebrae (neck) and pressure on our cranial bones, then this in turn causes pressure and irritation to these nerves and can cause a pain referral that we know simply as headaches.
