When people are honest I respect them. We have have right/wrong, good/bad and then their is merely opinions. Those we can take or leave! Braelyn has enlightened me on so many things especially unconditional love. Truth is though he has enlightened me on people too. Due to his nice tan and his hair texture it reveals at times STILL the characteristics of people. Racism seems to never die even in todays time error. Braelyn has Caucasian on his birth certificate and his medical records. When I register him for school he will be registered as white. There is no check box for mix....medical records show primary race (Caucasian) and secondary race (African American) due to health. He still gets the jokes, he still gets the picks and it is still an issue of Braelyn being mixed (and yes he is). Braelyn is Braelyn to me. Most of all Braelyn is my grandson and legally my baby. The only difference in him and any other precious baby is this: he has the best personality on the face of this earth and I have to keep his skin/hair very moistured. Strangers cant hurt me nor Braelyn. Its been friends and family BUT only a few. It is never directed to ME its always to HIM. If the jokes or now I am in ? Of when or what age will he be when they stop? No matter if they stop or not its who a person is in their heart and Braelyn want change that. Recently I had a close friend look at me right here to say: honestly Brenda, I never understood/knew or accepted anything to do with mixed kids until you and Braelyn. I realize now that there is no difference. She said being around Braelyn and his personality and seeing how much I love him she realized THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE in a baby. I have to defend Braelyn and TODAY instead of passing the jokes off (and believe me strangers its NOT) I will say this: I dont make jokes of other peoples children nor do I pick on children. I expect the same! I cant change how people are just because of Braelyn nor am I into changing peoples minds or convincing them ANYTHING! But I AM CONVINCED! !!
