When people leave Saturday Night Live, they often become movie stars, to varying degrees of success. Some have turned into bankable box office draws, while others have seen their appeal fizzle after leaving SNL. BusinessWeek has a list of the 25 most successful movie careers of former SNL stars. They ranked them by the overall gross of their movies in the U.S. and Canada . . . so naturally, theres a slight advantage for those who have been at it the longest. Of course, thats also a testament to the lasting longevity of their appeal. Here are the Top 10, along with their overall gross, and their biggest box office success: 1. Eddie Murphy, $5.79 billion over 38 movies. Shrek 2 is the biggest, at $550 million. 2. Dan Aykroyd, $4.26 billion over 56 movies. Ghostbusters is the biggest, at $514 million. 3. Robert Downey, Jr., $3.9 billion over 57 movies. The Avengers is the biggest, at $646 million. He did one season on SNL: Season 11, 1985 - 86. Continued . . .
