When people say What about Syria?, What about Iraq?, What about Afghanistan? and other versions of whataboutery, let us remember that the atrocities being perpetrated against the civilian population of Gaza and the rest of Palestine are being committed by our closest ally. We cannot so easily influence the governments of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other countries. Israel, on the other hand, is dependent on vast amounts of financial, military and moral support from the West, particularly the USA. When Israel kills children, it does so with our assistance. We can pull the plug. We can stop the death machine in its tracks. We are responsible. We are complicit in these crimes. Let us call upon our leaders to stop this atrocity immediately. It should be beyond question that Israel has gone way beyond what is permitted by international law, committing war crimes and crimes against humanity that our governments continue to facilitate. There is no justification for the ongoing slaughter and ethnic cleansing taking place in Palestine. Its time we brought it to an end and called for Justice and an independent international enquiry. Israel must be held accountable. Our leaders have a lot of answering to do.
