When should a photograph be considered a representation of art. - TopicsExpress

When should a photograph be considered a representation of art. First the recording of any image in its entirety by any devise does not constitute the making of art. What qualifies a photographic image as being a representation of art is when a physical change has been made prier to the recording of the image or in post production. This can be accomplished by either the redirecting or repositioning of existing materials found in the image. However of greater significance to a photographs claim as art is the adding or to a lesser degree the subtracting of original materials supplied by the image maker. An image photographed remains a representation of the art itself, until the constructed image has been dissembled , making the photograph the art. Curtis Salonick
