When the Boomers Went to South Korea I was on the Sam Houston when we pulled into Chinhae, South Korea in Dec. of 76. They never told us why we pulled in there. I found this article When the Boomers Went to South Korea. This sheds some light on the reason for our port call. Nine boomers in the Pacific made 35 port calls from 1976-81. The Big Sam was the first, and also the first and only boomer to pull into a port in the Atlantic, Izmir, Turkey following the Cuban missile crisis.
