When the Crimea and Ukraine situation developed Puttin was nudged into a back off situation. However. He did say that any attacks on the Russian speaking population wood demand a response. Do far he has not responded. It os clear that this was regarded as a sign of weakness. Ukrainian missiles have been fired at at Russia and Ukraine is using white phosphorus bombs on civilian population. Today Russia has massed 20000 troops on its borders. NATO expresses concern and says it expects Russian intervention on the grounds of humanitarian aid. But the problem NATO have is there justification of Israel defending its land and going to war on a sovereign state. You cant have your cake and eat it. I dont believe Puttin will back back down on this one.
