When times are tough and the people in (i.e. academic, health policy) power positions make us look like nonsensical agitators in the survivor movement and trample on our struggles for alternatives, the suffragettes passion, collective empowerment, endurance of incarceration and public rejection keeps me going. My fingers pressing the pages of survivor narratives and research, my heart embracing the words from other survivor activists. They cant break our spirit and solidarity even if the psychiatric, legal and academic powers that be can break us as individuals.
