When to end a life: Do my dog colleagues /friends think a dog with advanced cancer is not suffering & not ready to be euthanized as long as they are still eating normally & can move about independently? How do you judge quality of life & when its time to help them move on? My mom still ate a few days before she died of lung cancer but I know she wanted it to be over....with people we dont have the choice. I know our vets position re Skyler & Blue was there was no need to euthanize them as long as they had normal appetite & didnt need to be carried around... Because of that, Andrew & I are still struggling with whether our decision was made for cosmetic reasons & the sneezing of blood & mucus everywhere (by Skyler)....and now that we are home after a month away- I find Im again struggling with the decision about whether eating & walking equates to not significant suffering & no need for euthanasia for that reason. Thoughts?
