When trouble comes, We turn up the music and work harder! Banner Music writer’s room at 19 Music Square West, the Big Red Barn, was totally lost in a fire last night. Our staff songwriters Alice Lankford & Jimbo Martin were in a writing session with a favored co-writer when the building caught fire. Although they made it out safely, Alice was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt Hospital for smoke inhalation which triggered an asthma attack. We are thankful that Alice was released and is already back to writing songs today. We were able to go into the building after midnight and carry out a van load of smoke and water damaged items. We are very fortunate that we were able to save so many things while others in our building were less fortunate. Although we are without a writer’s room, several offers from industry friends have come forward providing our writers a place to finish out their songwriting marathon this week. We are very thankful for our Music Row friends and colleagues who have included us in their prayers and who have lovingly offered their help as we work through this difficult time. You should know that this fire, although a setback, will not slow down Banner Music for more than a few days. We have a lot of great things in the works and we will use this time to restructure and come back stronger than ever! We would specifically like to thank: • The Nashville Fire Fighters who put out the fire and eventually let us enter the building to collect items. • Banner Music staff songwriters Alice Lankford & Jimbo Martin for grabbing a few things in our office before exiting. • Becky McIntosh for driving to the office and keeping us informed as the fire fighters fought the fire. As well as staying and helping carry out items. • Haley Redmond, Encore Publicity, and Lauren Ashley for helping us carry items out. And thank you to all who have called, texted, emailed and posted encouraging words on Facebook. If you know us, you know we value and hold dear people who are in our Banner Music circle.
