When was the last time your house was painted? To avoid damage to your home, preventative maintenance for your paint is a fairly simple operation. Inspection of paint deterioration is quite simple as well, check for oxidation (chalking)blistering, peeling and caulk seperation. The life expectancy should not continue to the condition of chalking. This is when the paint surface appears chalky, you can test by rubbing a cloth over the finish and the results provide a powdery substance transfer onto the cloth. Blistering and peeling of paint can be cause for additonal concerns and this will be discussed in next weeks blog. Caulk seperation is normal over time, catching this issue in early stages is the key to protection and premature deterioration.
